Hi all - thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this.

I can only provide the current DDS information, as I cannot run any other application. I receive the following pop up

[file location][application name or the word "null"] is not a valid Win32 application.

i cannot get to system properties but the laptop is a compaq/HP presario 2500 XPPro SP1 with about 1 gig of RAM

I have included the HJT log from last night at the end of this post. NOT INCLUDED - FORUM WOULD NOT PERMIT POSTING BECAUSE IT WAS GENERATED BY OLDER VERSION OF HJT. Let me know if you would like it attached.

Since Sunday I have noticed the following occurrences:

Windows Police Pro google redirect
CryptoAPI Private Key pop up upon starting any application

Tried to run Malwarebytes and received this popup after it scanned everything
Run-time error "93" Invalid Pattern String.

Tried to run Spybot after updating definitions but it would run CPU at 100% for so long it would overheat and shut down.

Upon restart is when Police pro showed up.

Put the system in standby and upon restart received a flash of blue screen to quick to read and system rebooted.

As of today I am unable to execute any application but DDS, IE, task manager, and windows explorer.

I was successful earlier at running and HJT log and noticed these, though I hope they do not confuse the situation

I also have a log file from and Autoruns and HJT I did last night before the applications would no longer start. I will wait to hear if you have any interest in the Autoruns log as it was approximately 30+ pages. I believe I also have numerous HJT runs previous to last night.

Here is DDS txt

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
