Complaint about McAfee support.

A browser hijacker snaked its way onto my computer. The moment it happened McAfee popped up saying that it had found and cleaned two trojans and warned me about a PUP. Well clearly something got through because the hijacker is alive and well. I ran a quick scan and then a deep scan with McAfee and it didn't catch anything. I ran Malebyte, Spybot, and Ad-Aware. Still nothing. So I used the McAfee support feature.

I chatted with a guy who was clearly using pre-designed responses, and after leading me on for a minute or two, s/he told me that s/he wanted to route me to a specialist who would take control of my computer and fix the issue all for a cool 89.99. I said that's preposterous because there are several local tech guys who will do it for only 50 bucks. I said that I expected a better price because I had already paid for the McAfee subscription to do a job it had failed to do. S/he told me to contact Dell (my computer is a Dell) for more options and then ended the chat session.

I'd like to talk to an actual person, but the phone support option costs money (God knows how much) :thumbsup: .

Are there any subscription based Anti Virus programs that have good support? Are there any that entitle the user to reduced prices for virus removal?
