Hi,
I uninstalled my old HP printer and installed a new one last night and now
when I start my computer up, instead of the welcome screen I have to log in
by clicking on my user icon. I am the only user on this computer so I never
had to do this before, when starting up I used to get directly to my desktop
I did not have to log in. I went to user accounts and now there are 2 users,
ASP.Net Machine A and me the administrator, can I delete this second account?
Where did if come from? This started happening right after I uninstalled my
old printer and before I installed the new one, because the first time it
happened was when I restarted my computer after uninsalling the printer.
Does anyone know what I should do about this?
I looked in my Add Remove Programs and there is something called Microsoft.net framework 1.1 and I did not knowingly install anything called that!
Thanks, Val

Hi Calval, to BC

The Microsoft .net software is what is created the asp.net account. Your new printer must need this so it must have installed the software when you installed the printer.

Go to Windows update and update your computer. If I remember correctly, there have been two updates to the .net software so run Windows update until you are fully updated.

One of the .net updates takes care of the log on problem.

Don't worry about it, it was added by .Net Framework. There are many third party programs that utilize it.

Well how do I get that login ASP.Net Machine A , off of my computer so that it starts up the way it used to? I don't like having to log on, I just want it to go right to my desktop when I start my computer.
Thanks, Val

Download TweakUI (147kb) from MS's Powertoys, Expand Logon, Check Auto logon.

Val, Have you updated Windows like I suggested you do? Keeping your computer operating system updated is one of the most important things you can do to insure you are protected from the garbage that is all over the net.

While I am one of TweakUI's stanchest supporters and recommend it every chance I get, one of the windows .net updates should set your boot screen back to what it used to be. You shouldn't need to use TweakUI in this instance (I do recommend installing and learning what it can do though  ).

My concern here is that you have not updated your software and are going around the net unprotected.

Did you update your software?

I just did the update and it worked, THANKS! Sorry I didn't listen to you the first time! I was just afraid I would end up with another problem if I did!
