I had a recent nasty battle with Windows Police Pro and its brethren. I'm left with some sort of Google Redirect virus. The page it most often tries to redirect to is not working, but it is a problem none the less. I tried to run SDFixe, but I get a blue screen when I try to boot into safe mode. Here is the HJT log:

In order to see what's going on with your computer I will ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.


We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from here
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

The next log will show us any hidden files that are present.
  • Download RootRepeal from the following location and save it to your desktop.
  • Extract RootRepeal.exe from the archive (If you did not use the "Direct Download" mirror).
  • Open Posted Image on your desktop.
  • Click the Posted Image tab.
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Check all seven boxes: Posted Image
  • Push Ok
  • Check the box for your main system drive (Usually C:), and press Ok.
  • Allow RootRepeal to run a scan of your system. This may take some time.
  • Once the scan completes, push the Posted Image button. Save the log to your desktop, using a distinctive name, such as RootRepeal.txt. Include this report in your next reply, please.

Hey Sam, thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid my computer died last night :( . It did a windows update and now will not boot. I get a BSOD after the XP logo. I still get a (different error) BSOD when I try to boot into safe mode. Of course, Dell no longer sends OS and driver discs with most of its PCs, so I had to ask them to send them special. Hopefully they will arrive in a few days. I backed up my most important data before the final crash, but I am going to try to at least get it to boot so I can get the last of my data before I wipe the whole thing and start anew. If you have any advice I would GREATLY appreciate it.

P.S. Is there somewhere I can find an XP CD boot disk image that I could burn on another machine?

No, not legally. But once you get the disc from Dell you can do a repair installation and not lose any of your files.
