Hello everyone,

Following virus removal using AVG full version, my desktop on my win xp will just freeze.
I have tried turning off screen saver, turning on screen saver. halting go to sleep (hibernate) feature..
If I let the pc will sit idle for the ten mins I have set up for the Screen saver to come on..and it does..
(the starfield)..seems to run normally ie. HDD not running oddly..or seaching..but as soon as I go to move
the mouse the screensaver will turn off normally..and the desktop behind it will be frozen.
I have tried alt and the down arrow keys..nothing...taskmanager will not pop up, but the indicator
in the taskbar will be on...so I do a button hold to power down..and XP comes back up..to the desktop
normally. web browser works fine, desktop shortcuts all work to programs, programs function. but as soon
as I let it idle any length of time, following screen saver..it will be frozen.
any help?!
Thank you all, Derek
