Good Morning.
My name is Guri Singh. I am having problems with my computer. It seems to be infected.

I am using Firefox as my default browser and suddenly IE windows pop-up. They keep on opening up and the CPU resources get taken over. I have to end IEXPLORE.EXE to kill these windows but I am not sure what is invoking these. Sometimes it is as simple as searching for something in google.com or bing.com. Sometimes, clicking on search results, will auto-direct to a site that was not the one I was clicking the link for. Clicking it the second time, takes me to the intended site.

Firefox info:
firefox 3.0.14
Mozilla/5.0

Computer Info:
XP
Version 2002
Service pack 2
Compaq Presario

I have the log file in front of me and it is all foreign language and I am going thru this one at a time. I am guessing that somethings like fotuwutu.dll and ziperame.dll are problems but I think I might be missing something not so obvious.

Please help.

Thanks for reading this request.
Cheers
G

Note: RootRepeal.exe did not work on my computer, will try from Admin account and update this.
I get "Could not load driver (0xc0000061)!

Hello! :(
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I will ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link 1
alternate download link 2
  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  • Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • On the Scanner tab:
    • Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
    • Then click on the Scan button.
  • If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
  • The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
  • When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
  • Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from here
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    %systemroot%\system32\eventlog.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\scecli.dll
    %systemroot%\netlogon.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\cngaudit.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\sceclt.dll
    %systemroot%\ntelogon.dll
    %systemroot%\system32\logevent.dll

  • Click the "Quick Scan" button.
  • The scan should take just a few minutes.
  • Please copy and paste both logs back here in your next reply.

Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it!
