Each user has their favorite.

Some people like Norton, some like McAfee, some like the little known versions. By little known, I'm speaking of NOD32, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, etc.

These all work well and have their strengths and weeknesses. It all depends on your computing habits, what you are looking for it to do, how much control you want, and how much you don't want it to interfere with your everyday activities or how much you want it to do.

My personal pick for antivirus is Eset Nod32 antivirus. It works very well, very few if any false positives and it's not a memory hog like some other products.

I'm sure others here like another antivirus and I'm also sure that you can look at all the independent labs testing results and find one that does a very good job but may not fit your needs or "wallet".

When it comes right down to it, it's pretty much personal preference.

Hope this helps,

I prefer Avast! I've used it for years and have remained uninfected.

I'm not familiar with Shield Deluxe, in fact I've never heard of it. The reviews on CNET are less than complimentary ranging from "this is crap" to "this is a rogue antivirus!". Based on that, I would look elsewhere.

Geeze Andrew, you were not kidding. I checked out those reviews and was shocked. Out of 42 reviews there were only, I believe, 3, that were not absolutely horrible. I have never seen so many bad reviews of a program. That sounds like one of the worst antivirus programs out there.

Shield Deluxe is a re-branded version of BitDefender Antivirus, but almost twice as expensive.
