After booting up my toshiba laptop with a nice new upgrade to XP Pro from XP Home, my computer lags when it's trying to load the programs it should be loading at start up (Norton, printer driver, firewall, etc).

Half the time, it'll lag for 2 minutes then start all programs and run as normal. Other half, it'll lag for 2 minutes then pop up the error box "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services...." and it says it needs to terminate the svchost.exe program. Oddly enough, it'll pop up enough of those same exact error boxes for every time the computer has started up since it LAST showed the error box. For example, I restart 6 times, getting a lag every time, and the 7th time when I restart it'll lag PLUS show 7 of those error boxes.

I've run Norton, Adaware, Spybot and AVG with System Restore turned off. On my other PC I use Trend Micro's PC Cillin, but Norton came free on this one....

Anything I can do with my registry or any software I can run to fix this? Thank you. Log follows:

Hello rblaude and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see no signs of viruses or malware at this time. The log is clean.

I would start out by uninstalling the Logitech Desktop Messenger. If that doesn't help then post your question with as much detail as possible inthe Windows XP forum and see what they have to say. They are the ones who deal with operating system and appliccation issues.

Cheers.

OldTimer - Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was surprised myself to see so much in there regarding Logitech Messenger. Amazing what they'll throw on your system when you buy their mouse!

Hi rblaude. I don't know what's up with that Logitech Desktop Messenger but it creates ALOT of those protocol lines. Sometimes they don't seem to hurt anything and othertimes they create havoc. It depends on the system.

Now that any malware questions have been resolved I will close this topic. If you need it reopened for this same issue then please PM me. If you have any new issues in the future then please start a new topic.

Cheers.

Keep on computing!

OT
