Hi! My name is Phil and I am new to this forum. I am having a serious problem with my netbook. It is only 5 weeks old and I have had AVG installed since the day I got it. Only my wife and I use it, and we are very careful about which sites we go on, so as to avoid any kind of malware infection. But, about 3 days ago I started having a problem with my Google searches. This happens with both Firefox AND Internet Explorer. It could also happen with search engines other than Google as well, but Google is the only one I use. Also, if I type in a URL directly into the address bar, it will always take me to the correct website. I will do a search and go to click on a link (to a reputable website), but instead, I'm being forwarded to spam/advertisement sites. Some of the sites I'm being forwarded to are for apartments, some are for buying things, etc. I do not know the specific URLs because I try to close out of the spam sites as soon as possible. This does not happen every time I do a search ... only about 50% of the time. Everything else seems to be working normally (knock on wood!), but then again, I do not use this netbook for very much, so there may be a problem that I haven't stumbled upon yet. As soon as I started having this problem, I started investigating (I have very limited computer skills though, so I couldn't do much). Here are the scans I've done and the results:

1. AVG update and scan -- clean, except for a few tracking cookies
2. Downloaded, installed, updated, and scanned with Malwarebytes -- this found Disabled.SecurityCenter, and 3 Rootkit.TDSS files -- the report says that these were quarantined and deleted successfully after Malwarebytes prompted me to restart my computer (which I did)
3. Still had the problem, so I downloaded, installed, updated, and scanned with SUPERAntiSpyware -- found nothing
4. Still had the problem, so I downloaded, installed, updated, and scanned with Ad-Aware -- found nothing aside from a few tracking cookies

Since this (3 days ago), I've scanned with each of these several more times after updating them each morning, and they still find nothing. I am at my wits end and pretty desperate for help, and I really appreciate the help of all of you on this forum! Thank you so much!
