I searched the archives for this issue but didn't find anything on point, so I'm hoping someone can assist! I work in an office which has a technology policy that does not allow the use of any "personal" hardware with the office network. I would like to use my own personal printer to print things at work, rather than using the shared network printer, when running large jobs or jobs requiring color (which the network printer does not have). The office budget will not support purchasing another printer, so what I would like to do is purchase one myself, and when I need to print something on it, put the document on a USB flashdrive, then put the flashdrive into the printer, and print directly from the flashdrive without the PC being in the loop.
I know that there are printers (e.g. HP Photosmart) which allow printing directly from digital camera memory cards, particularly for photos, but I'm having difficulty finding a printer which would allow a similar process using a USB flashdrive. I want to be able to print without accessing the office network, by just putting the document on the drive and plugging the drive into the printer.
If someone could suggest options that might work, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!
