Not sure what I did wrong, but spyware must be back, because I'm freezing every time I try to open Word and get Dangerously Low in Resources message. Ran all updated spyware software and here is my current log:

Hello brelle and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing this log I see no signs of viruses or malware at this time. the log is clean.

I do see anumber of entries that do little more than use up system resources and are not required to run the various programs they are related to. If it was my machine I would do the following:

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing (remove this regardless of what you do with the rest)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PCHealth] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\Support\PCHSchd.exe -s
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Portfolio] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WksSb.exe /AllUsers
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WorksFUD] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\wkfud.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SSDPSRV] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ssdpsrv.exe (if this machine is not on a network)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Works Update Detection] C:\Program Files\Microsoft Works\WkDetect.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CommCtr] C:\PROGRA~1\NET2PH~2\CommCtr.exe -auto
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Works Calendar Reminders.lnk = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Works Shared\wkcalrem.exe
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Also, see this link to disable the 2nd half of PCHealth or it will come right back:
Why Disable PCHealth

Ok. Now let's just do a little standard cleanup. Download CCleaner and install it. Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Ok. Reboot your machine normally and try it out. See if you still get the resource errors. If so, then post a quesiton in the Windows ME forum and see what they have to say. They are very adept at dealing with operating system and applicaiton issues.

Cheers.

I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.
