Network Card trouble

I'm kind of a computer novice and I kind of accidently took out the network card to my computer and then lost the card. If I buy a replacement network card and run my startup disks will the network disks work?

If you get an identical replacement, the computer should recgonize it as the same kind and already have the drivers for it.
