After hearing that P2P filesharing can do terrible things to your PC (from loading your PC with spyware to turning it into a deadly thermonuclear device), I'm looking for a good and safe alternative.

I've heard of one such site but wont include the name in case you think I am an advertising spammer, which I am not!

Cheers,

AM

Thanks. I'm from the UK, so I can only use Napster on the list. It looks a good site.

I'm also curious about this one. http://www.mymusicinc.com Must emphasise that I'm not advertising it, and don't know if it's any good or not. Would appreciate some info.

Cheers all,

AM.

Well, it seems I've found out for myself. This site is just technical support for Limewire. If I wanted Limewire (which I don't, as it's P2P) I could just download it free anyway!

Ally, there are many P2P systems that are safe. Bit Torrent technology is well known by many P2P users. Basically, you are downloading directly from other users...not through a huge software bundle.

Bit Tornado is a safe application to use to download torrents (files). There is even a posting on these forums somewhere that displays the safe ones and the ones loaded with spyware and malware.

Some good sites to look for music that use bit torrent technology:
mininova.com
demonoid.com (free membership required)

I use these and they work very well.

Let us know if you have any questions.
