The computer I am typing is hardwired to internet. I have 3 other computers wireless that run through this computer. I have Road Runner combination router-modem. Not sure how to explain this. But I use to be able access all computers from this one and also print to wireless printer from this one. Alas it seems that this computer will not share anything anymore. Just all of a sudden. I have tried reinstalling all network connections. I deleted and reinstalled network connections. But to no avail. This computer use to see the entire network but now only sees itself when I view network. Thank you for your advice and help

Two things I can think of:

Check the network protocols on each system and make sure they are the same on each system.

You might try enabling NetBIOS on each system, I have to do that on my home network to make it function properly...http://networking.nitecruzr.net/2006/04/netbios-over-tcpip.html. It's among the protocols that can be elected via Properties for your connection (same as TCP/IP).

Did what you said and no. Still cant access the network from that one computer. All the others can see each other except the ONE. I am baffled.
Thanks Art

These are my favorite problems: The Mysterious Problem - "I did ABSOLUTELY nothing to this computer and yet it won't do ____________ like it has for the last 4 billion years."

you know what I say to that: "I have beach front property for sale in Idaho, interested?"

Something changed. And I say that because computers, while fast and fun, are dumb. Like your kid brother on a Saturday afternoon, computers just sit there till you make them do something.

If you can connect and surf then there is nothing wrong with your connection(s). Its a setting somewhere, either a Windows setting or a firewall setting. With XP the easiest thing to do would be to restore the PC to a previous point when it worked. Barring that you need to figure out what changed and change it back.

Can you ping the other PC's IP addresses? Have you checked that you are still in the same workgroup?

Hope this helps thumbup.gif

They all have the same ip. And I can ping if that makes a difference. From both desktops. The one I am having trouble with wont even see the wireless printer I have. How do I check to make sure all 4 machines are on the same work group?
Thank you for your time.

Can you do an ipconfig /all from the pc that the others connect to and then ping that pc from the one having trouble printing. Copy and paste the results into the next post for analysis.

Can one of the mods combine this topic with http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/262388/network/ . The poster misunderstood and started a new topic rather than just replying to his original.

Hope this helps thumbup.gif
