Hey guys, I'm new to the site and hope I'm posting this in the right place.

A couple of weeks ago my external hard drive broke. I was pretty sure it was just the bridge so I decided to get a enclosure to house the SAMSUNG HD501LJ that I took out of the broken enclosure. I ended up purchasing a NexStar CX enclosure. After installing the hard drive in the case I can't get anything to power on. The LED turned on once but then went out. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to get a different kind of enclosure? I also tried to use a Western Digital WD1001FALS drive and it did the same thing.

Sorry for not knowing anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Some enclosures require specific file systems on the drive...and specific jumper settings on the PATA drives.

You've checked the directions for using the enclosure?
