Every time I burn a dvd it freezes and skips. I have tried 3 different programs sonic , dvd flick and now Nero . I burn at a slow 4x speed . still same results freezing and skipping

I have tried different dvds... Sony ,Magnavox, Philips , Memorex , maxell all DVD-r
still skipping and freezing

I have a litescribe

On the front of my computer it says the following words

Optical Drive
DVD + RW litescribe double layer 16X drive

Does this mean it will only burn dvd + or dvd + rw and not dvd - r

any Ideas is appreciated

How much RAM installed?

CPU?

How much free space on C:?

Sounds like system doesn't have horsepower to do what you want to do...when burning.

Error messages in Event Viewer that might shed some light?

Don't know what Mrxsymb is

How much RAM installed? 512

I had a lite scribe before and it went out and had to be replaced in no time . It was replaced by another lite scribe . could it be that i have a very cheap drive / burner. I have plenty of space. I don't have very much on my computer at all ...... computer runs fine, doesn't freeze . even when I'm burning computer doesn't use much memory maybe 440 MB . I noticed it takes for ever to burn a movie . 90 - 120 minutes

Well...I don't burn DVD movies...but I'd say that 512MB of RAM isn't helping the system out when doing such.

That, combined with a failure to defrag the drive you are burning from...may result in the symptoms you describe.

I looked at the task manager when burning through out the burning process . It used more than I thought..... CPU shot to 90 - 100 % Usage and stayed their through out the 2 hour burn .... Memory shot up to 700 MB . Guess I don't really have the horse power like you said .

Anyways thanks for your help Louis

Adding RAM should take care of it...and your system will function better with more "headroom".
