Firefox is SLOWWW

So my firefox has been really slow.. when i type it takes forever for the letter to show up and things like facebook and their apps are really slow at loading etc. I have the newest firefox.

any ideas?

maybe cleaning cache and history?

is this a firefox problem or would it be my windows?

I have win xp pro service pack 3 with 2048 ddr2 ram.

Pop open the Task Manager and see if any particular program is spiking in CPU usage.
