Yesterday I was trying to watch a video online and when I clicked play it told me my flashplayer needed updating, I clicked on update (against my better judgment) and next thing I know it opened IE (I usually use chrome or ff) and it had installed the ask toolbar. I immediately shut down everything and tried to run malwarebytes antimalware, I first updated it w/ no issue then after 20 sec or so it shut down. When I clicked on it again, I got a.. windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the approprite permissions to access the item... message. I went to my control panel to see if anything had been installed and didnt see anything other than the mwbam update. I also tried to uninstall the ask tool bar (I had actually installed but disabled the ask & record toolbar months ago) and it started uninstall but quit so I clicked again and it said please wait till it finishes uninstalling. I retried after about 20 min and got the same message. I restarted and attempted to uninstall the mwbamw it would not do that either. I went to download.com and downloaded mwbamw, when it finished I clicked restart now and restarted in safe mode.... the same thing happened, it shut down mwbamw after 20 sec. While in safe mode, I tried hijackthis, spybot, and ad aware and they all shutdown and would not let me access a second time. I restarted and was able to run windows defender... I got 2 messages saying it had removed the reno virus. I was ablr to run a avg command line scan in safe mode ( I think thats what it was called) and it didnot find anything but it also appeared to skip many files. In the task manager I found b.exe as well as msa.exe and stopped/deleted both of them but Im still having the same issue. I was able to run eset online scanner and it found ....

C:\Users\test\Documents\Downloads\Nero 8.3.2.1\Nero-8.3.2.1b_eng_trial.exe Win32/Toolbar.AskSBar application (deleted - quarantined) 00000000000000000000000000000000 C
C:\Users\test\Downloads\Nero-8.3.6.0_eng_update.exe Win32/Toolbar.AskSBar application (deleted - quarantined) 00000000000000000000000000000000 C
C:\Users\test\Downloads\SUPERAntiSpyware_Pro_4.24.0.1004Final .NGEN[www.guretorrents.com].rar probably a variant of Win32/Agent trojan (deleted - quarantined) 00000000000000000000000000000000 C

I then tried to run SurerAntiSpyware and it went for about 5 min but as soon as it started checking the registry it shut down and would not reopen.....
Please help me.... I will be eternally grateful....Thank you

b.exe as well as msa.exe
You have a rootkit infection

Please download Win32kDiag.exe by AD and save it to your desktop.
alternate download 1
alternate download 2
  • This tool will create a diagnostic report for me to review.
  • Double-click on Win32kDiag.exe to run and let it finish.
  • When it states Finished! Press any key to exit..., press any key on your keyboard to close the program.
  • A file called Win32kDiag.txt should be created on your Desktop.
  • Open that file in Notepad and copy/paste the entire contents (from Starting up... to Finished! Press any key to exit...) in your next reply.

    --------------------------------------
Go to Posted Image > Run..., then copy and paste this command into the open box: cmd
Click OK.
At the command prompt C:\>, copy and paste the following command and press Enter:
DIR /a/s %windir%\scecli.dll %windir%\netlogon.dll %windir%\eventlog.dll >Log.txt & START notepad Log.txt
A file called log.txt should be created on your Desktop.
Open that file and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

There are some new variants of rootkits in the wild right now that will require custom scripts to remove the infection, the process must be completed by HJT team members or above.

Failure to follow the proper removal process can and will cause serious damage to a machine. Recovery of the machine may be difficult, if not impossible.

Next please go here HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal ,click New Topic, give it a relevant Title and post the above Win32kDiag.exe log.
