Alright, well it's about time I registered and made my own thread on this board. I've been here many times before and it has always been incredible. So here's to hopefully solving my nagging case.

I am lazy. I know it. When I get a virus or trojan, I usually ignore it until it prevents me from normal operations or until it entirely crashes my computer. It's a horrible personal quality, but I am finally getting over this, starting now. For the past couple months I've had this nasty virus/trojan/rootkit/? on my system. Long story short, I'll explain symptoms (running Avast and Spybot SD)

Sometimes disables firefox search bar
Avast will recognize it, attempt to quarantine or delete it, but unable to because it is being used by other processes.
Sometimes goes away when rainmeter is closed(?) not sure
It used to crash my hard drive altogether, but I think I've gotten past that.

Avast always scans and finds it, and reports something like "Win32: fasec [trj]", but it can never fully get rid of it. So following someone's advice on here, I started using MalwareBytes Anti-Malware to scan and find it. I had to rename the program, scan, and it always comes up with something. Each time, I quarantine/delete, but it never goes away.

On my last scan, last night, it found

"Trojan.Agent" in system32\uacinit.dll
"Rootkit.Trace" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UAC

This is the MBAM log:

So what is my next step? I've heard that avast has a anti-rootkit program that might work?

Also, does Avast! Home Edition ever expire? For some reason it says that my protection will soon end, but I always thought Home edition was always a free service.
