Partitioning reformat

thanks to the malware forum i need to reformat my drive i was toldd that it woud be a good thing to partition when i reformat thhe hard drive from scratch . so im jsut needing advice in what to do and how to do it . i have a 500gb hard drive i will be reformatting. its currently reformatinng got about an hour left on it .
