Hello everyone. I have been using the Bleeping computers website as a resource for the last three years while as I was working as a computer technician with several large IT corporations. There is no other site that I would recommend to someone who is learning about security issues on the net and their computer.

While working as a virus removal tech, I learned that the most common way that virus writers would take over your browser (IE or Firefox) was by installing an ADD-ON and and associated BrowserHelperObject code into the browser. Part of my job was to root out these malicious add-ons and their BHO code and remove them from the system.

One thing I found frustrating, was that there was no comprehensive database of good and bad BHOs on the internet. So I began compiling a list of BHOs and putting them into categories related to where they are inserted into the Registry. I now make that list available to the world at <http://sites.google.com/site/bhosearch/Home>. At this point it is not really a database, really just a text file, but I use it all the time when fixing people's systems and I will continue to add to it when I discover new BHOs (which appear to be infinite in number and variety).

Now if there was only a similar compilation of plug&play drivers........................
