Please forgive me if I started this topic in the wrong section. I have very little knowledge of computer, viruses, malware and all of that. A couple of days ago, my son accidentally got the computer infected with the Windows Police Pro virus. Following a search on here, we were able to remove most of it or at least stop it from popping up. I used Malware Bites during the process. We deleted all that it found.
Today we noticed that our google search bar would redirect us to weird ad sites. We use Firefox. If we actually typed Google.com into our browser we could legitimately search. If we used the google search bar on the upper right, it would redirect us to the weird places. We put the computer in safe mode and did another scan but it still doesn't seem right. The search bar works but I just don't feel right about something. I can't put my finger on it. I did run a Hijackthis scan but I have no idea how to decipher it. Could some please help me? I apologize if I am not posting correctly. Please let me know what steps I must take now to get my computer cleaned up.
Thank you!

If you wish to submit a DDS / HJT log, follow these directions

Please read the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Pseudo HJT Report as part of its log.

There will also be instructions to create a Root Repeal Log

When you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.

The HJT team is very busy and it will take awhile to get to your post
Please be patient and good luck
