Let it power down and use up all of the battery, then recharge it and see if it does the same thing. Is this an iPod Nano? Which Generation?
Who said I couldn't have everything?

It might have killed the Hard Drive. The Classic has a standard Hard Drive like computers, they can't be dropped, or else they will break. If it was a nano, it would be able to work, but I wouldn't be so sure about a Classic.

Well, yes, you kind of have to. I'm not sure how much the classics are now, but a replace hard drive is about $150. You could probably pick them up on eBay or you can call Apple and see how much it costs for them to replace the hard drive.

Did you try to go threw a restore using itunes?

If the hardware isn't damaged it will fix it for sure.

For some reason this happens all the time with my first generation I Pod Nano® I always had to let it finally die and and completely reset the device. Lost all mp3s and hated it. So I bought a ipod touch.
