So glad I found this place I was running out of ideas of how to fix this. I bought a used laptop HP Pavillion ZE4100. Running XP PRO SP2. I knew it had some problems, ran advanced system care and it worked much better. Did not have access to internet at that time. Downloaded to CD at work and Installed Malwarebytes onto laptop and it would not run, started searching on the web and found some instances where viruses will stop programs from running tried many approaches finally ran the recovery disks that came with it and every thing was working quite good.Put in new wireless adaptor and downloaded Avira Anti-virus (free) ran O.K. for a day or two then it wouldn't run, Malwarebytes wouldn't run either. then I read that to get a program going I could rename it winlogon.exe which I did and it would run then. I downloaded a couple more malware programs and one called avenger which I remebered seeing in my program files with something in it called sdra64.exe didnt know what it was but it didnt look like what I had downloaded onto my desktop and after I ran malwarebytes the folder in my program files was gone then I found that the sdra64.exe was some kind of virus. I did not use the avenger file I downloaded It looked too complicated. I do have a copy of HJT and have made a log file. Had to rename it winlogon.exe to make it run could really use some help.

Please read the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Pseudo HJT Report as part of its log.

There will also be instructions to create a Root Repeal Log

When you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day.

The HJT team is very busy and it will take awhile to get to your post
Please be patient and good luck

I posted a request in the HJT malware removal forum I am a little confused as to what I am supposed to do with this post. I don't want to leave garbage around to clog up this website. I could't see how to move or close this one. Sorry!!!
