I've used a small app called AxCrypt for years and I like it. It encrypts files with a password (for keeping private things private) and it has a file shredder. It's fast, free, easy to install and easy to use. You can find it at http://axcrypt.axantum.com/. Google AxCrypt for links to download and review websites. Try it.
