0dp.com popup!!!

Hello, PLEASE HELP!! Thanks!!

A friend used my pc and accidentally clicked 'Yes' to installing one of those ActiveX browser downloads. My computer was almost immediately bombarded with popups galore.

Using various means, I've been able to get rid of most of them. A list of what I did (in no order) is as follows:

***I deleted suspicious folders in C:\Program Files. Some of them would come back on startup, and some would not delete because an .exe file was still running. After terminating them in Task Manager they were deletable, but would still come back.

***I went to Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled/deleted all supicious and obvious adware

***I used SpyBot S&D and AdAware SE (the newest version), upgraded both of them and cleared all of the 200+ malicious files. Then rebooted.

Again, most of the popups are gone, but the one 0dp.com pops up constantly in 1-2 minute increments, and the above spyware programs are not deleting them.

************EDIT****************
Now, my computer gets attacked by 50+ browser windows at the same time, all marked as 0dp.com. I have to ctrl-click them and close them as groups in order to close them fast enough as they multiply themselves!!!

Please HELP!!!

Hello starbucksko and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Uninstall - C:\WINDOWS\system32\KTDUZB.DLL

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\KTDUZB.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\cffhfi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\raspip.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vidctrl\ <--folder
C:\Documents and Settings\User\m190309.EXE
C:\Program Files\E2G\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\Cas\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\PartyPoker\ <--folder

Now perform a search for these files and delete all instances. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.AUNPS2.DLL
Msrv32.exe

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Bitdefender <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean'.
RAV <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean', leave everything else as is.
eTrust <<<'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful
Housecall <<<Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.
Panda ActiveScan <<<Accept default settings
If there are any files that cannot be automatically disinfected or quarantined then you will need to delete them manually.

Step #7

AdAware SE v1.06

Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE v1.06:
  • Download and Install AdAware SE Personal, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:
        • Automatically save log-file
      • Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
      • Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
    • Under Definitions:
      • Prompt to update outdated definitions - set the number of days
  • Click on the ‘Scanning’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Driver, Folders & Files:
      • Scan Within Archives
    • Under Select drives & folders to scan:
      • choose all hard drives
    • Under Memory & Registry: all green
      • Scan Active Processes
      • Scan Registry
      • Deep Scan Registry
      • Scan my IE favorites for banned URL’s
      • Scan my Hosts file
  • Click on the ‘Advanced’ button on the left and select in green:
    • Under Shell Integration:
      • Move deleted files to recycle bin
    • Under Logfile Detail Level: all green
      • include addtional object information
      • DESELECT - include negligible objects information
      • include environment information
    • Under Alternate Data Streams:
      • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
      • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
  • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
    • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
      • Unload recognized processes during scanning
      • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
    • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
      • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
    • Under Log Files:
      • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
  • Click ‘Start’
  • Choose 'Perform Full System Scan'
  • DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.
  • If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window
  • Right-click on the list and choose Select All
  • Click the Next button to finish removing the items that were found
  • When finished, REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found
Step #8

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

Hey, sorry for the long delay...my cable provider decided to stop sending our neighborhood service for the past week...but I would still LOOOOVE help with my computer as its back online and still being attacked by pop-ups. My hijackthis log is posted below and I'll respond immediately to your help. Same pop-ups and tons of new ones that continue to spawn themselves. Also really annoying search bars being installed and a lot of words on my browser get "underlined" and are links to advertisement websites. Please help!!

Perhaps we should just start at square one....Here's my log. Thanks so much again!

Hi starbucksko. I think there may be more than what we are seeing here. Let's run a different scanner and see what it shows us.

Download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder.

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the c:\winpfind\winpfind.exe file and double-click it to run it. Now click the Start Scan button to begin the scan.

When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) back here so I can review it.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi starbucksko. Ok, it looks like we have an L2M infection so let's start by removing that.

Print these directions or copy/paste them into a Notepad document and save it to your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
  • Download l2mfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.exe to start the installation.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts.
  • Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing the Enter key.
  • Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, Notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log and a new WinPFind log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Post the new L2m logs back here along with a new HijackThis log and I will review the information when it comes in.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

Hi starbucksko. Ok, that took care of the L2M infection. Now let's see if we can't take care of the rest. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download the Pocket Killbox and unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to your desktop.

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Step #2
  • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document

REGEDIT4

[-HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{016235BE-59D4-4CEB-ADD5-E2378282A1D9}]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run]
"raspip"=-

  • Save the document to your desktop as fixreg.reg and close Notepad.
  • Locate the fixreg.reg file on your desktop and right-click on it
  • Choose Merge from the popup menu and answer Yes or Ok to any further prompts. You should get a message that the file was merged successfully.
Step #3
  • Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the files in bold below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard
    • C:\WINDOWS\icont.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\silent_marketingsector.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\RUTASK.job
      C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sskcwrd.dll
      C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
      C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Sskuknwrd.dll
      C:\Program Files\Aprps
      C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\E6F1873B.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUNPS2.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\chtblr.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\carlv.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\carlv.exe
      C:\Program Files\rdso
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\raspip.exe
  • In Killbox click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard item
  • In the Full Path of File to Delete field drop down the arrow and make sure that all of the files are listed
  • Click the option to Delete on Reboot
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Unregister .dll Before Deleting
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Deltree (Include SubDirectories)
  • Now click on the red button with a white 'X' in the middle to delete the files
  • Click Yes when it says all files will be deleted on the next reboot
  • Click Yes when it asks if you want to reboot now
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just reboot manually
Step #4
  • After the system reboots, start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
    • R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
      R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
      R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
      R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank
      R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank
      R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank
      O2 - BHO: (no name) - {016235BE-59D4-4CEB-ADD5-E2378282A1D9} - C:\Program Files\Aprps\cxtpls.dll
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [A70F6A1D-0195-42a2-934C-D8AC0F7C08EB] rundll32.exe E6F1873B.DLL,D9EBC318C
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
      O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [0F8W38V] chtblr.exe
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Usghspx] C:\WINDOWS\system32\n?tdde.exe
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Hor6RUZpX] carlv.exe
      O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aida] C:\Program Files\rdso\eetu.exe
  • Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #7

If you do not already have Ad-Aware SE 1.06 then follow these download and setup instructions: Ad-Aware SE Setup. Otherwise, just check for updates.

Now perform a Full System Scan.

Step #8

Use the Add Reply button to post a new HijackThis log along with a new WinPFind log.

I will review the new information when it comes in.

Hi starbucksko. The log looks clean. Good job! How are things running? Any more problems?

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
  • CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
  • Turn off System Restore.
    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • CHECK Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Turn ON System Restore.
    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.
You already have a good anti-virus, and you should also have a good firewall for blocking unwanted access to and from your computer. These also are free for personal use:It is best to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit Microsoft Windows Update monthly. Microsoft puts out new updates on the 2nd Tuesday of every month so be sure to check regularly.

And to keep your system clean be aware of what emails you open, what websites you visit, and update and run these free malware scanners once a week:To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Have a safe and happy computing day!
