I had this working once, but since reformatting can't get it working again.
Argus DC 3515 camera, USB, XP.

I tried installing from the disk that came with the camera, another disk I got from the store, and a driver I just downloaded from Arguscamera.com.

It appears to install, but then says it can't find the software. But I did get a message that it was installed.
When I plug the camera to the USB port I can't get a lighted screen. The screen lights up when I unplug it. So, I can't upload my pictures.

Anybody? Thanks.

I don't even use my camera's software. I just download and use the Windows program
Are you sure it isn't a problem with your USB?
Open Device Manager and click on the +'s by root Hub Controllers
Are there any yellow exclamation points?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

No exclamations points. I thought maybe it was because the driver was not made for XP.
I will try to figure out how to do it with windows. I forgot about that.

Thanks.

When I try to open "scanners and cameras" I get a blank window.
Windows help says the camera must be installed to get pictures, but does not recognize the driver.

Did you turn the camera on...while attempting to use the Scanners/Cameras Wizard?

Some (not all) cameras require this step. My old camera did, my newer camera does not.

Yes, I turned on the camera.
When I go to digital camera settings my camera is not listed.
Otherwise, anything else, it says check the connection. It must be making some connection because when the USB cable is plugged in the camera screen is dark, unplugged, it functions properly.

I finally just set the camera according to the instruction book even though the screen was black and the wizard popped up and uploaded the pictures. So, I guess it is all fine. Thanks for the reminder that XP was supposed to do it all. Sorry to be so slow about this. Thanks for your help, both of you.
