What type of printer?

Meaning is it a stand-alone with ethernet capability?

Or do you have it connected to on of the PCs?

First you have to make sure the Printer is set-up for sharing. Right click on the printer icon in the Printer and faxes folder. Going from memory but I should be close. Click on sharing and follow the prompts.

Then go to the other PCs Printer and faxes folder. Select add printer. Choose network printer and let it search. If it does find it, it may say it needs to install drivers. Let it. If it can not find any then provide the disk that came with the printer.

If it does not find the printer then you can point it to it by placing the name of the computer hosting it as well as the shared name of the printer in the box provided. \\host computer name\printer shared as name

Are you running a firewall? Which one?

Is file and printer sharing allowed?
Did you allow it when you ran the network set-up wizard?

You have a firewall on each PC?

I would turn them off until you get everything connected. Then re-enable it.

Just So I am clear on which machine is which.

Is the printer connected to a XP PC or the Vista machine?

Which machine did you attempt to print from?

Is there only one printer showing on each PC. On the PC it is connected to the printer will have a hand under it. On the other two PCs it should have an extra little symbol under it designating it as a networked printer. Also make sure it is set as the default printer on each PC. This is done by right clicking on each printer icon on each PC and selecting set as default.
