Need help IDing Sound Card version

Ok, so I've seen this problem elsewhere. I know my driver is realtec ac97, not sure which version. I know that I need some kind of computer ID number to give y'all so that you can help me link, but I'm not sure what that is our how to find it. I don't have a yuppie computer (gateway, HP, etc.) it was a custom handed down. I've tried a couple versions, new and old, but they all reboot during install without finishing. I really appreciate the help
