I am infected with the PC Antispyware 2010. I was working with Budapest & he told me to post here. I successflly downloaded both the DDS Tool & RootRepeal. However,When I started both of them, the window shut down & the next time I tried to access them, I got the message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".
I s able to download run the System Engineer Report. The log is attached.

Hello! :(
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I'll ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

Important!
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Failing to respond back to the person that is giving up their own time to help you not only is insensitive and disrespectful, but it guarantees that you will never receive help from me again. Please thank your helpers and there will always be help here when you need it!

Hey Sam;

Thanks for your help.

I was unable to disable my Antivirus software before running ComboFix. I am running McAfee. Whenever I right click on the icon in the system tray, I get four items, McAfee Agent, VirusScan Enterprise , Update now & the uubiquitous About... .

I went ahead & ran ComboFix & it seemed to run fine until it came to the "Rebooting Windows" window. It locked up there. I left it alone for 45 minutes , and then I rebooted it manually.

Since it did not finish running I was unable to get it to produce any type of log, So I tried to run it again. It did the same thing as before, hanging up on the "Rebooting windows" window. I will leave it like that as long as I can to see if it will ever reboot.

I am not sure if this has to do with my McAfee or not...

On the bright side, it seems to have cleaned up some if not all of my spyware, I am just not sure if it got it all.

First check to see if a log was created at C:\Combofix.txt
If nothing there, check for this folder: C:\Qoobox and see if you can find any type of log there.

Sam;

Sorry anout the delay. I have been out of the country for the last two weeks. Anyway, there is no combofix.txt. There is a folder C:\Qoobox. In that folder there are subfolders, most of the populated by files with a .vir ending. Would you like me to zip this whole file or is there something inparticular we are looking for? There is only one .txt file, and that is called catchme.txt

Please run Combofix again for me and post the resulting log.
