My name is Lisa, I worked in the IT field for 8 yrs before retiring early due to disability in 2003. My job involved hardware/software installation & troubleshooting, user support, network admin (Novell), & some database admin as well. (But I realize that 6 yrs ago in IT is like 15 yrs ago in any other field......)

However, until Windows 2000 my only experience w/NT had been the Exchange Server - creating user profiles & synchronizing w/Novell accounts. That's when I stopped working, so I don't have a good understanding of some NT concepts. Now I have a new PC running Vista, which conveniently let someone set up a network the first time I plugged it in. (DSL modem hadn't yet authenticated to the ISP server.) So in a Catch-22, before the computer could download its Windows security patches and Norton updates, something snuck in & did a bunch of registry changes, etc. -- & even delayed the start of said Windows updates. But that will be the topic of my first post!!!!

Hello,Welcome and nice to have you here. Interesting how fast that happens. I am sure we can help you along.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
