Yesterday I was looking at a news subject and all of a sudden my computer went crazy telling me I had a major virus and several other items that infected it.

A screen popped up similar to windows safefty program and told me I needed t download this program to repair and remove it, which I did. After a few prompts etc it began its scanning and annoying notices telling me my computer was really in danger etc. and I needed to purchase this program to resolve all the issues.

I currently have Windows Live OneCare running and it was sitting there all nice and green and saying my computer was was good. I stopped the other program immediately and ran OneCare and it found no problems.

I did a quick google check for Total Security and found Total Security is a rogue anti-spyware program that is a clone of Antivirus 360. When attempting to uninstall it I found it does not come w/ an uninstall program and I need to purchase it to uninstall it.

I also tried a fix that I found on CNET that told me to install Process Explorer and then use it to end / kill the TSC.exe file.
After that I was instructed to called Malwarebytes Anitmalware and run a Quick scan once installed. This was also done and it did not remove it. Nor did it detect it.

I found one more which included installing a program called Spyhunter3 but that did not detect it either.

I also tried going to windows Malware protection center and ran the live scan and it did not locate the program.

The program still exists and is on my computer. I have also just learned my sister in-law has it on hers as well, she lives with us and is using my wireless network.

============= FINISH: 13:28:01.62 ===============

I have been unsuccessful in running the program rootrepeal. It will go only so far and then end and not give me the opportunity to save the report. I have tried several times with the same results each time.

Thank you ,
RFspokane

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
