Is it better to use RAID 1 or just use a backup software to automatically zip up important data and copy it to a 2nd HD? The thing that I hate about raid is how long it takes to re-sync an HD.

Is there anything wrong with using a backup software to zip up important data with a password and then upload the zip file to a remote webspace? What's the different between using commercial remote backup service and the method that I just described? I can get webspace for cheap so why use a commercial backup service?

Thanks for the help
