Hi clever folks,

My brother has asked me to fix his laptop (why me??), which is running a 32-bit Vista Home Premuim OS (SP2).

The issue is that every time it is booted up it displays a message box titled "Microsoft .NET Framework", in which it states;

Unhandled exception error has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Input string was not in a correct format

Whether you click Continue or Quit, the message box goes away and there appears to be no other effect from it (that I have encountered). If you click the Details button you get the following report;

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I have not the faintest idea what to do with this information, or how to stop this message box from appearing. I would much appreciate your assistance.

Many Thanks.

An application which was programmed using MS .NET framework is being run at start up in your brother's computer. This application has a bug and the exception is being thrown before terminating(?) the application.

1. Download Autoruns from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx
2. Run Autoruns and let it finish scanning for all objects. When it shows Ready in status bar at bottom of window, click on Logon tab to select it.
3. Look for an entry C:\Applications\OEM\Reminder\Reminder_MUI.exe in the Image Path column and disable it by un-checking the checkbox on the left side of entry.
4. Close Autoruns.

Romeo29, you're a star!! Many thanks for your advice, I followed your instructions and the problem got fixed easily - just how I like it.
Job done! :huh:

Good software tool too, I plan to learn more about how to use it effectively (when I have time!).

P.S. Sorry for the tardy response; its been a busy week!!
