Hello. I am operating on windows xp. I am getting pop up messages like: web page unavailable while offline even though I am online. Also the "MIcrosoft security center" is popping up with security alerts describing a software file: trojan.win32.agent.dcc. I am skeptical whether or not these are genuine. Additionally, I cannot run a system scan with malware bytes. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall to no avail. Also I have tried to run the rootrepeal scan and the whole system reboots, even in safe mode. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A bogus malware program called protection system downloaded itself onto my system. Security alert pop-ups and other firewall related messages continually manifest themselves. I have tried to run a malware bytes scan, but noting happens. When I try to do a root repeal scan the system re-boots. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Merged post from HJT.~Tw
