I re-ran RootRepeal.
This time I selected each tab, hit scan.
Then I saved the report to a named file.
Some of the tabs worked OK and here are their filenames:RootRepealLog-2009-0910-2220 drivers.txt
RootRepealLog-2009-0910-2220 stealth objects.txt
The other tabs hung up my computer so I got no report file and I had to reboot each time; i.e.,
Files, Hidden Services, Shadow, SSDT.I have to figure out how to attach these log files. I'll send this message first, then try to figure out how to send the actual files in a separate post.
The next thing I tried was running the Report tab scan only checking “on” those tabs that had worked individually, as mentioned above.
The program appeared to progress through successive tab scans but the program crashed due to a read error before all tabs were scanned. A Windows error box popped up saying so. After several seconds, but before I could write down what the error message said, my machine crashed to a BlueScreenOfDeath. I did not catch which tab was being scanned when the read error occurred. No scan report file was generated on this set of scans.
On reboot, into SAFE mode, I did find two files that may be of interest:RootRepeal_crash_091009.224632.txt
file contents read as follows:
ROOTREPEAL CRASH REPORT
Windows Version: Windows XP SP3
Exception Code: 0xc0000005
Exception Address: 0x00426fe4
Attempt to read from address: 0x01326000
Also, FYI, I cannot get CHKDSK to run. A windows alert box (yellow triangle with a '!' in it) cites: "Windows was unable to complete the disk check."
It doesn't matter whether I tell CHKDSK to scan or to fix files. I don't know whether this may be related.
