My laptop (compaq presario f700) is having a lot of problems with the keyboard. Certain keys, (backspace, g, h, and various others less frequently) fail to work unless I press very hard or maybe it's just that i'm holding them down for so long while pressing hard.

I took off the problem keys and looked under and there was a bit of dust but it didn't fix the problem. They all seem to fail at once and then all work again so i'm thinking it's a hardware/ connection issue?
I'm running vista and ubuntu and the problem appears in both (no spyware in vista either so not a keylog or something..)

Does anyone have any suggestions or know how to take the keyboard out (if this is advisable) and check out the connections?

You won't see anything by taking it out
It sounds like it needs to be replaced
Here's the maintenance manual for it:

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
