Full Screen Video Quality

I have noticed that DVD and AVI files look great (sharp) on 100% and 200% but when I go to full screen the quality is somewhat blotchy. Is it possible to have that same “sharpness” on full screen mode with my systems hardware and software? If not what are your recommendations?

Windows Media Player 11 XP with divx codex
Samsung SyncMaster 932bw plus 2ms 8000:1
3.0 Pentium 4, 2MB RAM
Radeon x300 SE 128mb
