I'm trying to run a VirtualBox VM for the first time, but it will not work. Do I need the installation disk? If so, I'm just gonna uninstall VirtualBox

You'll need the installation disk (or disk image) for the operating system you wish to run in a virtual machine. VirtualBox doesn't come with any operating systems.
