I have an old white Compaq keyboard for PC. It has a PS2 connector.
My Toshiba laptop has USB ports. I got a connector PS2->USB.
The message I get is that the USB device is not recognized.
It makes sense since this keyboard is definitely NOT USB2 or any USB device.
Is there a way to hook this keyboard? Do I need drivers?

If this makes no sense, do I need to get a USB keyboard? I've seen a bunch of keyboards at Staples. They're huge and curved and ugly (to me) while all I need is a standard keyboard with numeric pad. No internet, no music, no games, just so I can type.

Thanks. Getting a kb would be last resort.
But I already have one, if I could only connect it

Perhaps if I got an explanation here why it didn't work, it would help me make a decision. I just don't understand the requirements.

Edited later: I will also be watching this thread
