I know where is is infected (C:\WINDOWS\system32\ws2_32.dll) and my virus scanners and spyware things can detect it. Spybot and Malwarebytes both say it's fixed, but it comes back anyway. My virus scanner (AVG Free 8.5) can find the file, but won't do anything because of it's importance to the computer system. Since it is a Winsock thing, I can't delete it, which would be bad in the first place. My System Restore won't work, and I've tried just about everything out there. So far, The only answers that MAY work are putting in a Boot CD or buying a new computer. I don't have the required materials or cash for that, so is there something I can try?
On one try, I apparently got rid of the virus in safe mode, but when I restarted it was right back in a Resident Shield alert.
