Hi - I got infected with the fake spyware bug Windows Protection Suite. I uninstalled it using Malwarebytes programme but now my machine won't start up. Anyone else had this problem?? (Windows start up fix doesn't work). Ian

Welcome to BC
Could you please be a little more specific by what you mean "my machine won't start up"

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Thanks. I turned the computer on a day after my Malwarebytes fix and everything was ok. Then a few days later, on my next attempt, it was just a black screen with the Microsoft Corporation name and a white bar on the screen. This was in limbo, forcing me to switch the computer off. When I switched it back on, it went into its fix mode, saying Windows could not launch, did I want to attempt automatic repair (recommended)? I did this but despite trying it could not fix the problem at all, saying configuration files may have been damaged / deleted (I don't know if this was a general message). I tried the recommended memory test but this came up with no problems... Has Malwarebytes' fix damaged my configuration files? Incidentally, I deleted the quarantined files imeediately, I don't know if I should have done this? Thanks for your time.

No, you shouldn't have and this is the reason why

Can you boot into safe mode or "Last known good configuration"?
