fomating sony vaios

coz i will have a loptop next week its a sony vaios can i format it usaing only windows xp will it cost problems?

Well usually the official vaio cd comes with certain drivers that are formateed for that vaio. But if you install windows xp regularly you can just download the drivers from the internet.

Sony installs two virtual partitions though. I believe you must use the C drive for your operating system.
