I have tried absolutely everything (all suggestions) to get rid of this virus and it is driving me mad. All of the anti virus programs are able to find them but cannot delete them and when I restart my computer I get the same error message over and over again. Any further help would be most appreciated.

Can you also suggest a good firewall I can download?

Hi tracy75,

REBOOT your computer into SafeMode, perform a full scan with the antivirus and delete the backdoor.
Starting your computer in Safe mode, use the F8 method.

If you can not remove the backdoor download HijackThis, unzip the file into a folder, e.g. c:\HJT, open HijackThis.exe, press "Scan", and "Save Log". Copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log in this thread. Don't fix anything yet.

ZoneAlarm Free is a good firewall for beginners:
Download ZA Free
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?
