I'm trying to use Firefox exclusively but am finding that certain web pages that use java script to open a new window in an existing window don't work (I think).

Also, one offline application that I use has a java applet which controls the searching of the help pages doesn't work with Mozilla Firefox.

Is there any download extension that I can load to rectify the problem or is it something else?

Have you downloaded and installed Java Runtime Environment?

This should solve the problem.

I applaud your decision to avoid IE.

John

You can use the Pop-up allow 0.2.1 extension. This temporarily allows popup windows to be opened while the Caps Lock key or the Insert key is held down and allows blocked popups to be manually opened by clicking the icon in the statusbar.

jgweed,
I had tried the download before but it screwed up somehow. I've just done it again and it appears to work. As sods law would dictate, the site I particularly want to test has an error message saying that they're have probs with there server etc etc.

The help java applet works fine now.

HuckerJ,
Thanks for taking the time to post - will bear that in mind for the future.

CU both around,

Peter

Glad I could help. A lot of people on these boards use either Mozilla or FF, so if you have additional questions or problems, you should be able to get an answer here.
Cheers,
John
