Hi guys, hope you can help - i'm having major problems running av/anti-spyware software. i get the following error message when trying to run HJT/Spybot/Malwarebytes etc:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".

I followed all advice on the Prep Guide post;

- DDS downloaded okay, however when i ran it the DOS box flashed up & disappeared straight away, and there's no log file.
- RootRepeal downloaded okay, but got similar problems - chose the Report tab, hit Scan, selected all check boxes, chose the C:drive then the program closed down. All attempts to re-run the program fails with the above error message.

hope you can help me.

Can someone please close this post.
Haven't solved the issue, but a custom built scaning package has revealed the depth of this infection.
Best resolution is a full reformat/rebuild.
