My HP 6715b has a Synaptics Touchpad v6.2 for the mouse and the right click doesn't work. Could this be a software problem? I have updated the driver and installed and uninstalled it and it always says its working fine but right click doesn't do anything.

It is possible that it's broke
It's on the bottom bezel underneath the keyboard, correct?

yes. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. Hp said that they think it is a hardware problem and for me to send it in. This HP has not been of the finest build quality. I just don't get why only right click is broken, left and the pad work and right will work on a usb mouse.

eh stuff happens. theres duds in everything. the important thing is that Hps willin to fix it. I love HP support. I had a LCD screen go bad in my laptop 2 weeks before the warranty expired, and not only did they get it fixed, they paid for the shipping, and had it back a week before the warranty was up. Thats what I call customer service. :D

I hate their service department. I had an lcd go bad and they reneged my warranty. I had to dig through two year old credit card receipts to get them to honor my service contract and that process took a month of them calling me a liar before I got someone to even admit I had a warranty (paid up for an additional 3 years). They are terrible, I can't understand a word because of the outsourced accents. At least they are trying to help me now but my experience with their service has been abysmal and I would never buy an HP again. My dell broke constantly but I was always dealt with in a friendly, quick, professional manner by people who had mastery over the ability to use a phone and speak english. HP not so much.

I will post back if they ever fix it. They have had the machine for a while now and the case number status at hp.com says they think it's a bios problem?
