Hello

After doing regular maintenance on my Window's ME computer I took a trip to Trend Micro and ran a scan on their site. The scan showed that I have a virus, trojan etc. called BKDR SANDBOX.A. It is located in my C:\_Restore\Temp\JGJ1PMG7.0 folder. I also ran my new Norton's Internet Security 2005 Program and it also found it, but could not delete or quarantine it because it starts up when I boot up my computer. I have researched this online and have found some instructions on how to cure this problem. In the instructions it calls for me to back up my registry (really scarry!) and then startup in 'safe mode'. Once there I'm not really sure what lines to delete in my HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version. I have also run the program HiJack This! and saved the log. This is what the log shows:

Hello Suzzy and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see that you are running msconfig in /reminder mode which means that you may have selectively removed some items in the past from the startup procedure. This can hide malware from us when we are performing a fix, so we would like you to reenable those startup entries by doing the following:

Please click on Start, then Run, and type msconfig and then press Enter. When the window opens you should be on the General tab. Click on the Normal Startup item. Then press ok until you are out of the program. It will ask you to reboot so reboot normally.

Now please create a new Hijackthis Log and post it here as a reply. I will review it when it comes in.

I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.
