I am now the proud owner of a mighty 233MHz AMD socket 7 desktop with 64MB of RAM! It has XP Pro installed but when trying to delete/uninstall the Epson Stylus Color 680 it reverts to the Epson Stylus DX3800 & vice versa. I want to uninstall both printers as these are the previous owners. There is no COA so a clean install is not an option.

I have tried both from the control panel, add/remove programs & also from the programs menu itself, Epson>uninstall. I don't know of any other ways? I have killed the little Epson system tray utility & it makes no difference. Hope that's a little clearer but going from memory, unless I boot the thing up again.

The guy assured me it was 4GHz so I thought maybe a P4, but no! I plan to install Puppy but have always found wireless tricky with Pupp so for now need to keep XP installation. Surprised XP runs so sprightly if at all, I have junked better specs!

Actually it stubbornly wont delete the Epson Stylus DX3800. Forget what I said about reverting to another printer. In Printers and Faxes it says deleting/offline but it never deletes. Also I think the OS is an upgrade as under Add or Remove Programs there is an entry for XP itself.

After Googling around tried this utill:

Got rid of the stubborn software but under Printers and Faxes there is still an entry for printer - it says deleting/offline. Can I force it somehow?

64 mb ram with XP

It's the bare minimum for XP according to MS web page. Maybe I should upgrade, however I've run into another problem in that the HDD is only just shy of 3GB. Although MS site says XPs footprint is 1.5GB, I've found that in updating OS I've run outa space! I do have two 4GB drives that I could use though.

I am trying Puppy Linux now. Only thing is dont think WINE comes as a .pet package. Also Puppy 5 is now based on Jaunty, a major step away from previous versions, meaning it's too bloated to work on my measily spec. I will try older Pup distros but wireless is a sore point.
