Need some advice on how to stop my PC from "chirping". It happens sometimes (but not always) during startup, sometimes when I am working at the computer, but usually when I am out of the room. Sometimes is occurs many times a day, sometimes I go several days without hearing it. I run antivirus software regularly, and I know it's not tied to receipt of new email. It happens no matter what type of browser I use and whether a browser is open or not. I'm using Verizon DSL.

Does anyone have any advice on what is causing this? If I could figure out what software is doing this, I would shut it off. It is becoming a big problem, as I am starting to use Skype more and more. Thanks for your help!

It would be best if you took off the side of the case to help in find the source of the noise
Hard drives and cooling fans with their bearings are the first usual suspect
It could also be an audible alert from the computer's internal speaker

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
